GRADS Meeting February 21, 2025

The selection committee met to review applications and select recipients for the Boost for Teachers/Mentors grants.

Boost for Teachers/Mentors Grant

There were six grant applications from: May Amodia, Sisseton (purchase of a heat press), Karen Siriban, Sisseton (t-shirt project supplies), Harlyn Perlado, Sisseton (gift box project), Michelle Greseth, Sisseton (Special Olympics tournament participant meal) and (Connection Crew trip to Unity Square), Lori Borgen, Tiospa Zina Tribal School (salsa making equipment and supplies). All project proposals were approved. Rachael Johnson will call the teachers/mentors on February 24, 2025 to arrange a time for the check presentation and pictures. She will also put pictures/information in the Sisseton Courier. Congratulations to the recipients on their successful proposals.

NDEAM/Sisseton

We discussed ideas for speakers. Suzy Sukalski from Fairmont, MN or a speaker from the Rocky Mountain ADA Center were some possibilities. We will work with Tiffany Duvall from Voc Rehab in Watertown and Sylvia Buboltz in Brookings.

Connection Crew at the Commons

This social/activity group for adults in Sisseton requested advice on achieving 501c status. Discussion ensued.

Rachael Johnson will send a thank you and a check for $125. to Cheryl Pocklington in appreciation for her continued work with the GRADS website, gradisabilitysupports.org.

The checking account balance in First Bank & Trust in Milbank was $4,301.20 as of January 31, 2025.

Next Meeting

The next meeting of Grant Roberts Area Disability Supports (GRADS) will be on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. at the Middlebrook Community Room, 902 E. Milbank Avenue, Milbank. The annual meeting and election of officers will be followed by our regular meeting.
